Jasmine Beach House

established in 2017

Jasmine Beach House is the manifestation of a shared dream to someday live on the beach, surf, enjoy nature, meet great people from all over the world, and share our passions for good food, company, relaxation, culture, art, music, and holistic living.

Jessica first discovered Sri Lanka in 2016 and immediately fell in love with the island, people and culture. She came with her kids to escape the Indian monsoon and enjoy fresh air, sunshine and the beach. They discovered so much more! Buddhist pilgrimages, surf, reptiles, and the freshest fruit and vegetables ever tasted. Jessica is a long time student of Buddhism and enjoys meditation and yoga. She is a US citizen who is fluent in French and loves to learn new languages.

Batta is a Matara local with years of experience in Sri Lankan tourism and surf culture. He is an excellent cook, board shaper, artist, wood carver and musician. He has managed guests houses in both Matara and Arugumbay as well as being a surf instructor.

Shortly after they met, Jessica and Batta quickly joined visions and forces to realize their shared dream of opening a guest house together. Immediately after seeing the private beach-front property on Wellawadama, they knew they'd found their home. The house is just a few steps from the beach and every room has an ocean view. The garden is shaded with king coconut, almond, mangrove and banana trees. The beach is a favorite secret surf spot for locals who enjoy bigger waves and no line-ups.

Enjoy early morning surf, meditation, and yoga sessions, walks at sunrise and sunset to the rocks at the end of the beach where there is a natural wading pool and a waterfall as the waves break over the rocks. Sit on the sand under the shade of the jungle that comes right up to the shore. Bask in the moonlight and starlight in the evening by a coconut hull fire. Swing in the hammock with your favorite book or simply fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves.

We look forward to your stay.
